The spatula head surface is smooth, which hopefully means that design won’t peel or scratch off, but it hasn’t gone through any washings yet, so I can’t say for sure. Very nice,, I bought it to replace one I've had (and still have), for 4 years now. This one however, has an angle that you can't see in the picture.
