A 1.5 quart square is the size that gets reached for most: a gratin for six, a side of scalloped potatoes, a crumble to pass around after dinner. The Pietra Natale Square Baker is made in Tuscany by Stefano Roselli from Italian stoneware, a blend of clays fired at high temperature for strength, and it wears the hand pressed edge that links it to VIETRI's Pietra Serena collection. Square corners portion more cleanly than a round dish allows, and the surface is finished well enough that the baker goes to the table instead of being emptied into serveware. Dishwasher safe when the meal ends, it holds a side through Christmas dinner and the week of reheated plates that follows.
