I love the shape of this Dutch oven, I love Staub! This is now my 5th, they do not disappoint. This particular DO being the year of the horse is very beautiful. I would love Staub to have a horse knob, that would be great.

Pretty, but product description claims it is self-basting. Basting means to take juices from the bottom of the pan and pour it over the meat as it finishes, which makes for a golden, flavorful glaze. There are fins on the underside of the lid, from which condensation can be directed to drip onto the roast - not basting (which includes oils and seasoning from the prepared roast).

I bought this as a gift and the recipients loved it. It incredibly beautiful as well as high quality and wonderfully made. Heavy and finely crafted, it should last for decades. You stove will never look better then when it is sitting on top of it.
