It will last a long time with regular sharpening because it's so sturdy and well made. Our old chef's knife has become a backup now. Absolutely will get more Shun knives.

It’s lightweight and fits perfectly in my small hands. My other knives that size are heavy and sometimes hard to handle. I am using this knife daily since 4 weeks and it is my absolute go to knife. I don’t even touch my other knives anymore. I keep it separate in my drawer because I treasure it so much. So far the edge doesn’t show any use. The knife still looks like new.

You can tell that it is handmade from the artistry all over knife, from the handle to the blade. The blade is extremely sharp, which makes slicing, dicing, cutting, chopping a breeze. Thin slicing of food like onion, citrus fruits, etc, are a dream with this knife. The Shiranami knife is surprisingly lightweight, the blade thickness is just right and the handle is sturdy, comfortable on the hand and there is no drag. The knife is easy to clean by hand and I really don’t want to ruin this knife in the dishwasher. This is truly a top quality that knife that every serious cook needs in their kitchen.
