The only problem with the chest is that the knives do not hold well once the lid is closed. Some fall into the other silverware when the lid is closed.

I wish it had some feet or even felt on the bottom to help move it around. My larger dinner knives did not fit in the top lid inside knife slots. A smidge too small. Luncheon knives fit better.It is a beautiful case and well constructed but these are ides that would work better for my needs. I also wish it didn’t come packed in styrofoam, a terrible product for the environment.

Great piece! Solid, well built and beautiful. I discovered that I actually need more storage, so returned it and am ordering the one with 2 drawers. Only thing "off" was that the back hinges are bright brass, but the side & front metal pieces are patinated dark metal. Also, the Cherry color is actually an orangey red...so I ordered that larger on in a dark wood.
