This refrigerator replaced a 22 year old Artica GE Side by Side. I had kept the Artica going for all these years, but got tired of the defrost heater burning out what I consider to be too often? I purchased OEM one's, but the last one lasted about 14 months and it was a GE one. Don't know why they don't last any better? Anyway said goodbye to the old girl that served us pretty well for those 22 years. The ice maker had failed and had developed an internal leak I could not find and fix, so we lived without that for several of it's last years. Now, this new one is HUGE at 28.3 The old one was about 25 cu. ft. Actually, I hated the dark tunnel of the Artica Side by Side. Could not find things back in there! This new one is great from that standpoint with the lighted back panel, you can see everything in there. Like the convertible part and the drawers in the freezer section. I've read that the ice makers in GE refrigerators are troublesome compared to other brands? I hope it is trouble free, but all of that is unknown just after purchase and setup. The old Artica was built like a tank. The shelving was sturdy. This new one has shelving and door trays that are a bit less robust. I hope they stand up as well as the old Profile Artica? Whether I can get 22 years out of this new one is debatable, but at my age, if I get 10, I probably won't really care........................

We never run out if ice and the water is always cold. It has plenty of space for everything a large family needs.

The indoor water pitcher is neat and keeps the outside of the fridge clean. I wasn’t sure about the drawers for the freezer at first but love how spacious even are. Everything stays nice and organized. Love that you can switch the right side of the freezer to be either a freezer, fridge or cooler. I’ve only had it for 3 weeks so let’s hope it holds up over time
