I thought I would like not having knobs, but I have accidentally turned on a burner or two just wiping things off and sometimes the controls don’t pickup on the touch well. I keep the controls locked most of the time. Also, the only thing that cleans it well is the Scrub Daddy paste.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this cooktop as a replacement for my JP939BH/CH/SH/WH – GE Profile™ 30" Built-In CleanDesign Cooktop. My original GE cooktop was a workhorse. I bought it in 2004, and I would still be using it if GE had not stopped selling the replacement parts. The JP939's glass surface held up with no scratches. The burners heated accurately and the placement of the controls (on the side of the surface) was prefect. This new cooktop is inferior to the JP939. Moving the controls to the front center was a mistake. This placement interferes with the cooking. Any slight touch disrupts the controls. While cooking, I am unable to wipe any spills from the surface because I might touch the controls and cause me to reset all the controls. Changing the cooktop design just for the sake of change was a serious mistake.

This product is very sensitive and does not work when fingers are wet, dirty or even moist . It requires lots of patients managing the slow response of the controls and you must always have perfectly clean fingers

Bad Controls, Long Heat Time, Small Burners, No Manual

I find using the controls somewhat awkward. (I had LOVED the way things worked on my old--2003-model.) Changing from HOT to a lower temperature unreliable--sometimes worked, Sometimes not. As per my own safety habit, I was locking the controls after each use--in case something was left atop the cooktop and triggered it on by mistake. But about the third time I did this I COULD NOT GET IT TO UNLOCK! So I flipped off the breaker for the appliance. When I flipped it back, it worked. Now I fear hitting LOCK at all.
