Great microwave. Does everything it should. Works consistently.

My first GE Microwave lasted many years until it quit (possibly from the stress of many power outages). I replaced it with the current model of the same microwave. At least one of the functions on the new one failed almost immediately. The replacement microwave for the new, failed microwave is now working fine.

We bought this unit to replace a Spacesaver II model that worked well for 24 years (!). This one fit the same space as the old one, with the added feature of a turntable, which the old one didn't have. We particularly wanted a unit that sits on a standard 12" deep upper cabinet shelf. This Profile operates similarly to the Spacesaver; pretty basic but that's fine for our use. The door of the Profile feels a bit "tinny" compared to the Spacesaver so I'd have expected the Profile to be noisier during operation, but it's actually significantly quieter. We've been using this unit for only about a week but so far it's fine. The main disappointment so far is that it doesn't appear to have a feature for turning off the sound, which the Spacesaver had and which many other GE microwaves seem to have. I've tried the different suggestions I've found online. I downloaded the manual for this model, but it doesn't mention a mute feature. Not the worst problem, but it's nice to be able to do that when you're the first one up in the morning and others are sleeping. Frankly, it'd be a much more useful feature, in my opinion, than being able to connect to Wifi! Overall, I'd say this is a good basic machine with dimensions that make it useful where other machines wouldn't fit as well.

The control panel is very hard to read-small font and not bright enough to see without lights on In the kitchen. The titles for the defrost cycle are not at all understandable or helpful. We’re not happy with our GE Profile microwave.

While the microwave works well the quality of the stainless steel is not as good as my previous GE Mircowave. It is much harder to remove fingerprints. Also, I don't understand why GE doesn't make caps to cover the screws on the top side of the cabinet frame.
