Well balanced and very sharp out of the box. They feel like high quality knives.

They are very nice. Calphalon knives are the best and this set didn't disappoint me in quality although the butchers knife is smaller than I'm used to.

The draw backs for me, the block is deep and sticks out far into my work space and the knives are hand-wash only. I know I will follow the directions but will others in my home and they end up being dish washed and possibly rust?
