Perfect! We ordered this Zephyr duct cover from Wayfair, unfortunately the main panel (30”) arrived with some small dentsdings, crimpedbuckled edges and a very light digital imprint that could not be removed. I called Zephyr to ask if they would send a replacement. Without any hesitation and at no charge, Zephyr’s service rep (Brian) sent a whole new replacement. The Yaka people who dwell along the Kwango River inspire this elegant African mask. Christopher Nyasafo carves the imposing image from sese wood and paints it by hand. Masks are very important in the rites of passage for these residents of the Democratic Republic of Congo, especially the rituals in which adolescents become men.

Masks are the most coveted art form for the Dan tribe of the Ivory Coast, representing the most powerful embodiment of spiritual forces, called glue. Like did, glue inhabits the dark forest, longing to enter and participate in the ordered world of the village but, being invisible, cannot until a mask is interpreted from a dream, described to the elders, then made. The carver sculpts the wooden mask with baobab wood and adorns it with chicken feathers, cowrie shells, and cloth. The mask is worn by the carver with attire that includes forest materials such as raffia, feathers, and fur, all representing the glue. Socially, these masks are the means of bringing control and order to village life, providing the strongest impressions of a young Dan person's earliest and most important experiences.

This mask of noble visage was often used by Ethiopian Chiefs to symbolize their authority. Sefah Mohammed replicates the mask with astute artistry as he carves it by hand from local sese wood. He paints and decorates it with clay and embossed aluminum plates, loyally adhering to the unique artistry of Ethiopia's Gauta people, whose name literally means "garden eggs."

Inspired by the Guro tribe of the ivory coast, whose masks represent spirits of the underworld, this artisan handcrafts this wall mask. Using sese wood, the artisan carves a colorful peacock onto the top.

With wide eyes and a serious expression, this personage wears a pointed headdress with polished brass insets.
