Zoffany Silk Fabric

Eastern Palace - Hand-drawn by Zoffany collaborator Sam Wilde, this artwork respectfully represents the concept of Fuubutsushi, a word unique to the Japanese language that means, 'The things – feelings, scents, images – that evoke memories or anticipation for a particular season.' Zoffany is thrilled to introduce guest designer, Livia Papiernik, a graduate of the Royal School of Needlework (RSN) and subsequently London's Royal College of Art. Her unique style incorporates an exquisite blend of pattern and storytelling paying homage to Jacobean embroidery and the heraldic beast statues which decorate Hampton Court Palace. This considered piece is embellished with hand-finished detail and decorative stitching.

With a layered, faded marble effect, this linen-blend fabric used the damask motif from the Nureyev fabric as a starting point with layers of texture used to soften the damask image for a contemporary look fabric.

Clandon is the epitome of a grand damask. An impressive large-scale design in silk cotton Clandon engulfs a room with its proportion and magnificent flowering flock. Zoffany`s archive document dates back to the late 15th/early 16th century when this design was originally produced in silk on a narrow loom and featured as a block-printed flock wallpaper at Clandon Park House in 1735 hence its regal name. This damask has appeared in many guises in our archive each generation adding its take on the design.
