This spying man is mounted on the wall opposite my toilet in the guest bathroom. I get lots of compliments from guests. Made of cast iron and heavy. Installs with metal wall plate and two wood screws (provided), or by metal wall anchors (I wouldn't recommend using plastic wall anchors). Figure sits into wall plate pocket. Very unique.. Michael. San Francisco, CA. Tue May 05 2020

Made from honey drums, this wall piece tells the sweet story of the people who collect honey in Northern Thailand and an interpretation of the clothing they wear. The drums can only be used a handful of times before they oxidize. In repurposing the metal, they are able to bring in an additional source of income beyond the bees they rely on to produce the honey. This recycled art is not only great on any wall, but it also has a beautiful story behind it.

The piece is unique, striking and solid. It is the perfect addition to our dining room wall and highlights the base of our walnut wood table base.. Neil. Boulder, CO. Mon Apr 05 2021

This iconic photograph captures Carmen Alvarez enjoying a game of backgammon with Frank 'Brandy' Brandstetter in a swimming pool at Acapulco in 1978. The image epitomizes the sophisticated leisure culture that defined Acapulco's golden age as Mexico's premier international resort destination during the late 1970s. Depicting a Hollywood actress and a hotelier moonlighting as a US intelligence officer enjoying a game of backgammon in a pool in Mexico, 'Keep Your Cool' is undeniably Aarons at his finest. This photograph captures the essence of tropical glamour at its most inventive, where the traditional parlor game of backgammon becomes an aquatic adventure in paradise. The scene represents the perfect fusion of sophistication and whimsy that characterized Acapulco's appeal to international jet-setters who appreciated both luxury and playfulness. This image embodies the carefree spirit and creative approach to leisure that made Acapulco a beloved escape for celebrities and socialites who sought unique experiences in settings of unparalleled natural beauty and refined hospitality. Slim Aarons, renowned for his evocative photographs of, as he described it, "attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places," was the quintessential chronicler of high society. After serving as a war photographer, Aarons turned his lens to a new landscape: the glamorous lives of Hollywood elites, Palm Beach socialites, and jet-setting debutantes and princes. His work for society publications captured an aspirational world of leisure and luxury that defined the American upper class throughout the mid-20th century, creating images that remain timeless symbols of sophistication and style. Every piece in our unique Slim Aarons collection is meticulously handcrafted using archival materials and printed on premium, luster photographic paper with environmentally safe inks, custom framed by skilled artisans who ensure that each work of art meets the exacting standards befitting such an iconic photograph.

Timbul Raharjo is an award-winning artist and sculptor from the village of Kasongan in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Timbul works with all types of metals and each piece he creates is hand-sculpted. One of these creations is the large leaping diver sculpture which is made of metal in an aluminum finish. It has a striated surface that enhances its design distinction—when the finish is rubbed onto its surface, it collects in the valleys to bring added patina to the gray sculpture. This lends it a textural feel that convinces the eye this is a vintage decorative accessory. In the foyer of a modern home filled with contemporary art, this silver sculpture will hold its own. We also offer our lovely diver as wall sculptures in several sizes and in other sizes as table sculptures. Each of these reflects the ethos that Phillips's collection personifies: modern organic.

The description on the Phillips Collection Website is completely inaccurate. It states: "Abstractly rendered in a metal in a bronze finish on a shelf in a black finish, the slim decorative accessory is whimsical in its own and will remain just as playful when other decorative elements are placed on the wooden shelf." The shelf is not wood it is metal. The sculpture is plastic and not wood. After I received the item, I called Phillips Collection and they informed me that the sculpture has a wire frame and is covered in hand molded clay; this not clay, it is plastic. I am extremely disappointed and will be returning all Man on the Shelf pieces that I purchased.. Robert. Mystic, CT. Thu Mar 25 2021
