Port 68 Celadon Lamp

"Road to Canton" is a gloriously fun interpretive pattern celebrating a journey through the countryside. Dogs, Asian pagodas, Ginko trees, and a boat ride down the river all join together in a whimsical pattern painted by John Loecke of Madcap Cottage. We offer two versions of the light-colored pattern in porcelain, and on our Delfern Bench in coral and celadon fabrics. Canton is a narrow jar rectangle-shaped lamp with a rectangle lucite base. Accented with aged brass hardware and crystal ball finial.

Celadon Tile is our modern cylinder-shaped lamp from our Scalamandre' Maison by PORT 68 collection. Celebrating a mix of celadon and emerald green colors all inspired by the cut velvet fabric from Old World Weavers which is part of the Scalamandre family, the lamp is accented with polished nickel hardware. Polished nickel cylinder finial. Round acrylic base. The faux velvet texture in the tile pattern is embraced as part of the design.

The colorful adaptation of a classic Indian chintz resembles linen printed fabric with exotic flowers and fauna. Catherine of Braganza, queen of King Charles II of England, brought Portuguese trade routes to the British East India Company, spurring fascination with such Asian goods and fabrics.

Beautiful table lamp. I purchased two cream colored. The second lamp had black speckles, so I've requested a replacement. Palampores or tree-of-life patterns have origins in India, where the exotic designs were hand-painted and mordant dyed--then exported to Europe and England for use as elaborate bed hangings and curtains. Scalamandre's timeless tree-of-life print, Pondicherry, is offered in rich blues on cream crackled porcelain for today's classic interior. The grand scale of the exotic tree is softened with finely detailed flowers and foliage and is accented with small birds and animals. This is typical of this historic and favored fabric design. Chinese designs came to England and her colonies with the tea trade. In the 1760's Virginia's governor ordered "bamboo chairs" for this Williamsburg "palace". Williamsburg cabinetmaker Edmund Dickinson owned a copy of Chippendales Director, the most fashionable furniture pattern book of the 1750s and 1760s. When he died fighting for the American cause in the Revolution, his Director was worth as much as his "new rifle gun". As part of the WILLIAMSBURG for PORT 68 collection, Bamboo Trellis celebrates Chippendale in bright meadow green-on-cream porcelain. Hannah is our modern, yet casual interpretation of a Chinese export pattern that is on a saucer plate made about 1740. The original resides in the Colonial Williamsburg archives. Archaeological fragments decorated with the same aster pattern and bearing similar fluting were excavated at the Geddy House site in Williamsburg, Virginia. The blue asters and cream ground porcelain lamp is part of the Williamsburg collection for Port 68. The graphic blue aster pattern is decorated on the front and back, with cream/white side panels on the shaped lamp body. The lamp is mounted on a black base with aged brass ball feet. The lamp is accented with aged brass hardware and ball finial.

Our Oceanic pear lamp is a celebrated unexpected collision of blue color with traditional shape.  This hand poured base, mixes the colors of  blue and white with clear resin, swirling together during the manufacturing process to end with a marbled effect in the lamp base. Damask, a luxurious fabric, traces its origins to ancient China and gained prominence through its association with Damascus, Syria, a hub for silk trading and weaving during the Middle Ages. Renowned for its intricate patterns woven into the fabric itself, rather than printed, damask embodies elegance and timeless craftsmanship. The original damask from which we drew inspiration is found in the Colonial Williamsburg archives. It was a swatch from a fabric decorator sampler book dating back to the mid-1800's.  The Richmond Damask collection takes further inspiration in the color palette found in Colonial Williamsburg.

We love the sparkle and glamour of solid crystal. The series of mini lamps named Bari, Florence and Venice were inspired by lamps in Murano. Each are scaled for that special lighting accent in the powder room, bar or even in the bookcase nook. Each lamp includes a tapered hardback clip shade. The lamp is french wired with a translucent clear on/off line cord. We didn't want any distraction of a support pole through the middle of the solid crystal base.
