An organic and instinctual painter, Artist Sarah Stockstill’s process relies on a foundation of several layers of texture that is applied and sanded back to get a smooth surface that lets her most immediate marks shine on the surface. Responding to color and forms, she follows as led. Sometimes into a deep horizon with traces of landscape, an organic jungle of pattern, a human figure, and every now and then an animal with an ethereal mystique. Sometimes the layering is broad, covering the entire canvas, and sometimes it is minute, focusing and embellishing a possible overlooked element of the painting which in turn becomes the center of interest. Most always layers are created and taken away, leaving small traces whose threads become more important for doing so.
I absolutely love this artwork. It's abstract and very interesting. The colors are soothing and works perfectly in my She-Shed. Love it!!!. Deloris. Wesley Chapel, FL. Mon Jun 17 2024

This 1959 photograph, "Beauty and the Beast", offers a rare glimpse into the opulent interiors of Palm Beach high society, where glamour and eccentricity often intersected. Lady Daphne Cameron, poised atop a tiger skin rug in the trophy room of Laddie Sanford’s estate, personifies the elegance and theatricality that defined the social elite of the era. Set against a backdrop of lavish furnishings and curated grandeur, the image captures a moment where wealth, fashion, and exotic indulgence coalesced into a singular aesthetic vision that would come to define mid-century American aristocracy. Slim Aarons, renowned for his evocative photographs of, as he described it, "attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places," was the quintessential chronicler of high society. After serving as a war photographer, Aarons turned his lens to a new landscape: the glamorous lives of Hollywood elites, Palm Beach socialites, and jet-setting debutantes and princes.
