The Butterfly Ginkgo collection celebrates the representation of flora as fauna. Michael's fascination with a particular type of ginkgo tree, the ginkgo Biloba, or "Butterfly Ginkgo", which grows with a double leaf reminiscent of a butterfly's wings, gave rise to a fantasia image of the plant. Executed at the highest level of hand craftsmanship, each piece is rendered in solid bronze with acid-etched cocoon-shaped vessels. The pieces in the collection are a tour de force of Indian craft and capture the poetic spirit that is so deeply indicative of Michael's work. The first time I saw this tree, it looked like it had been completely overtaken by butterflies...as if they would all take flight the moment I walked too close or made a noise. The idea that the leaves could evoke the beauty of butterflies was magical to me, like trees that can metamorphose from flora to fauna in the blink of an eye.

The Pomegranate collection takes its inspiration from one of the most universal and ancient symbols in the world. The fruit has been prized across the globe, across cultures, and across time as a representation of life, rebirth, and renewal, as well as fertility and union. "I grew up around pomegranates—from their use as natural dyes on the antique rugs I used to crawl on as a baby to an integral ingredient in the food that I love. When I'm at my home in New Delhi, I wake each morning to the taste of freshly squeezed juice. The color, the smell, and the delicate flavor all make it feel like a magical elixir to me."

While the sculpture is just as exuberant and detailed, in white, these flowers take on a unique simplicity. There is a sense of lightness, freshness, and even innocence - each petal seemingly untouched and pure.

The Michael Aram New Leaves collection is a celebration of the beauty and meaning found in individual leaves. Inspired by specific types of foliage that have taken on sentimental meaning in Michael's life, this collection embodies his genuine passion for nature in its purest and most personal form. Each leaf has its own story, its symbolism, and its inherent wonder, detail, and shape. For the first time, Michael is also interpreting an entire collection of leaves in the proportions in which they occur in nature, amplifying the sense of realism for which he is so well known. While each leaf is expressed as a sculptural object, Michael has yet again managed to infuse function into his forms, making them perfect for the most elemental moments in our daily lives.

The Golden Ginkgo collection takes its inspiration from the intricacies of form and texture found in foliage from around the world. By interpreting plant forms in cast metal, Aram presents work that is evocative of a natural environment transformed and redefined. These pieces have wonderfully undulating leaves, which create an almost rococo surface of playful, delicate, and intricate forms. By combining the individually sculpted leaves, the natural forms join to create a complex pattern. I've tried to capture that sense of movement and fragility in metal.

The Olive Branch collection is one of the best-known and most loved of Michael's motifs. The simple forms create objects that serve wonderfully as stunning individual gifts or an exuberant table setting that decorates an entire moment of your life. Love Michael Aram and this napkin holder does not disappoint. It’s well made, study, holds a good amount of napkins and looks great on the kitchen counter or table. The Calla Lily collection is inspired by the beauty of the Calla lily flower. The architectural, curving shape of the flower is strong, yet suggests an intense sensuality. The flower is associated with weddings as is symbolic of purity and innocence. "I was thinking of the romance of weddings and how bouquets often use flowers that carry symbolism. I remembered a picture of a woman I had seen holding her bouquet of calla lilies. She was classic, timeless, and modern all at once. There is something so alluring about the billowy flowers and arching stems which feel contemporary, yet still utterly romantic."

Judaica comes from Michael's fascination with objects of ritual. Regardless of the faith with which they are connected, they are imbued with profound energy and meaning that holds a very special place for Michael Aram. Whether it is a unique object or derived from a motif with a broad collection, each piece is created with a particular sense of reverence and care in both the function and the design. "This is such a fun object! It suggests its function through its form. A matzah, matzah plate...I do that a lot and it always strikes me with such a sense of whimsy and surprise. The surface texture of the matzah, when it is interpreted in cast metal, also creates an unexpected beauty.
