Inspired by a ginkgo tree with double leaves reminiscent of butterfly wings, this set captures a magical fantasia of nature. Each piece is a tour de force of handcraftsmanship, rendered in natural and oxidized brass with hand-etched cocoon-shaped vessels. The black and gold palette reflects the artist’s fascination with "perfectly imperfect" beauty, turning the dinner table into a narrative experience. The Butterfly Ginkgo collection celebrates the representation of flora as fauna. Michael's fascination with a particular type of ginkgo tree, the ginkgo Biloba, or "Butterfly Ginkgo", which grows with a double leaf reminiscent of a butterfly's wings, gave rise to a fantasia image of the plant. Executed at the highest level of hand craftsmanship, each piece is rendered in solid bronze with acid-etched cocoon-shaped vessels. The pieces in the collection are a tour de force of Indian craft and capture the poetic spirit that is so deeply indicative of Michael's work. The first time I saw this tree, it looked like it had been completely overtaken by butterflies...as if they would all take flight the moment I walked too close or made a noise. The idea that the leaves could evoke the beauty of butterflies was magical to me, like trees that can metamorphose from flora to fauna in the blink of an eye.

The Pomegranate collection takes its inspiration from one of the most universal and ancient symbols in the world. The fruit has been prized across the globe, across cultures, and across time as a representation of life, rebirth, and renewal, as well as fertility and union. "I grew up around pomegranates—from their use as natural dyes on the antique rugs I used to crawl on as a baby to an integral ingredient in the food that I love. When I'm at my home in New Delhi, I wake each morning to the taste of freshly squeezed juice. The color, the smell, and the delicate flavor all make it feel like a magical elixir to me."

The Olive Branch collection is one of the best-known and most loved of Michael's motifs. The simple forms create objects that serve wonderfully as stunning individual gifts or an exuberant table setting that decorates an entire moment of your life. The theme itself captures all the most distinctive aspects of Michael's work - narrative strength, deep symbolism, and extraordinary sculptural expression. "The Olive Branch has always held a powerful meaning for me representing both peace and victory. In designing functional objects with natural forms, there is a mingled sense of fragility and intensity. For me, it is like nature spreading through my interior spaces - like a magical olive grove sweetly willing its way into my home."

Love Michael Aram and this napkin holder does not disappoint. It’s well made, study, holds a good amount of napkins and looks great on the kitchen counter or table. I also like the white marble bottom as it has a lighter feel than the darker marble often used for napkin holders. This looks great on white marble counter tops.. T. Washington, Dc. Thu Oct 17 2024

The Anemone collection is inspired by anemone flowers, which in some cultures are said to bring good luck and offer protection. The flowers are associated with purity and peace. "For me, there is a beauty and gracefulness inherent in anemones. The curving stems and vibrant blooms are feminine and deeply alluring".

Packaged very well. Beautiful. Be careful with the ornamental leaf at the base. It was resting on the counter top and slightly scrubbed counter when moved, but will not bend to raise so it won't scrub. Luckily, I did not force. I am sure it would have broken.. Cynthia. The Michael Aram Palace collection explores, through Michael's eyes, the richness of detail and ornament in Palace throughout the world. As a part-time resident of India since 1989, Palace architecture has been a steady source of inspiration and this collection pays tribute to the geometry and complexity of Moghul's design. The classically elegant shapes and materials in this collection reflect the arches, finials, carved panels, and ornamentation prevalent in the Palace throughout the East. I like the old saying that every man's home is his Palace. This is a collection that brings the grandness and intricacy of Palace architecture into your home, in an elegant yet everyday way. The collection is a journey of sorts into the sophisticated world of regal architecture, yet what I love about it is that there is a surprising simplicity to the geometric forms as well as restraint in the tone-on-tone interplay with light and shadow of the surfaces.

I have several of these cocktail napkin holders. They are well made, perfect for indoor or outdoor entertaining because the napkins never blow away. The olive branch design is very pretty and looks nice with white or black napkins and any house decor. It easily lifts up when you want to retrieve a napkin. The Calla Lily collection is inspired by the beauty of the Calla lily flower. The architectural, curving shape of the flower is strong, yet suggests an intense sensuality. The flower is associated with weddings as is symbolic of purity and innocence. "I was thinking of the romance of weddings and how bouquets often use flowers that carry symbolism. I remembered a picture of a woman I had seen holding her bouquet of calla lilies. She was classic, timeless, and modern all at once. There is something so alluring about the billowy flowers and arching stems which feel contemporary, yet still utterly romantic."

The collection was inspired by the powerful sensuality of orchids and the rich ambiance of haute couture strikingly simple yet full of the most extreme detail. The collection has an almost gothic feeling opiated, lush, and smoldering like the dark, velvety atmosphere of a luxurious evening. "There is something so seductive about orchids. In blackened nickel, they are even more sublime, like a woman wearing a black velvet gown floating through a great estate or a glassy urban high-rise. The dark atmosphere of the orchids against the hammered metal is like the afterglow of a beautiful evening."
