All bench/table legs and statuary should be raised up off the ground in winter so they will not freeze to the ground surface. Items that have areas that pool water should be wrapped with burlap or any absorbent material (old blanket/towel) and then wrapped with dark plastic, making sure that water does not accumulate and freeze.

I used this as a base to a water fountain in my garden. It lifted the fountains height plus it brought out a good look to it. I highly appreciate it and would recommend it for your garden needs. This is an extraordinary planter! The pictures does not show how large is actually is. It is an estate piece that will capture everyone's eye. It is also VERY HEAVY! You will need several people to assist in getting it up. It arrives in two pieces (top and bottom) and you will need to put it together. In the winter, if a planter is to remain planted, they should be raised up off the ground making sure not to block the drainage hole. This allows the planter to drain and will prevent the planter from freezing to the ground. If the planter is not to be planted, it should be brought inside to a garage or shed. If this is not possible, follow the steps above, but turn the planter upside down to prevent it from filling with snow and ice. It should then be covered or wrapped with burlap or any absorbent material and then wrapped with dark plastic to prevent it from accumulating moisture.
