Salt mill mechanism is designed to resist corrosion from dry salts. To get the best out of your Peugeot salt grinding mechanism, you should use dry rock salt, with a max. diameter of 4 mm (0.16"). Not recommended for sea salt. Mills comes partially filled with rock salt for immediate enjoyment. Classic grind adjustment: turn the top knob tighter (clockwise) for finer grinds; looser (counter-clockwise) for coarser grinds. Made in France.

Conventional salt & pepper mills often create mess by leaving excess grounds on surfaces when placed down. The innovative design also does away with a long central spindle for the grinding mechanism, which increases its capacity and makes it much easier to fill. To use, simply invert the mill and twist the base to grind.

Please note: our salt and pepper mills are not interchangeable. The pepper mills have stainless steel grinding mechanisms, which salt (a corrosive) will destroy. Our salt mills have a ceramic mechanism, which salt will not harm.

Love the look and the quality of workmanship. In fact I ordered a second pair for a family Christmas gift. But I have two problems : first, there are no obvious markings on the boxes to distinguish the salt mill ( with ceramic grinder) from the pepper mill ( stainless grinder). Second, I could not figure out how to open and load the grinders. It appears that a Phillips screwdriver may be required to open.
