Reproduced from a pair of Chinese statues, these high-quality resin sculptures have been resized for easy display on a table or bookshelf. Commonly referred to as "Foo Dogs" in the West, these figures actually represent lions and were traditionally placed on either side of a building entrance to act as guardians. These are great. Fit right in with my other Chinese pieces. Note, though, they are not really dogs, even though they are commonly called "Foo Dogs". This is a misnomer given to them in the West. They are actually lions, which the Chinese call "Guardian Lions". In Chinese mythology, they guard houses and other places.
