Expensive, but what an amazing natural product! Great polished finish. Better than we expected! They were well wrapped, but the crates were not as strong as they should be for the weight of the product. The stool is pretty and exactly as pictured. However, the bottom is not finished and is hollow with rough edges. I got it to use inside in the sunroom and hoped to use it as a stool for extra seating. But the jagged ceramic will scratch my hardwood floor. I put felt protectors on the bottom, but they don't fit very well since it isn't a smooth, wide surface. Beautiful piece that I can recommend, but just know it may not be the best for inside use.. A little background history: Originally designed in the 1940s for the Gino of Capri restaurant, lovingly known as "Ginos" by New Yorkers, Scalamandre restored the Zebras wallcovering in the upper east side institution in the 1970s after it was destroyed in a fire. Flora Scalamandre, wife of Franco, free-handed the signature motif that would come to be known as the iconic Scalamandre zebras. The pattern is celebrated the world over in design and in the movies. It was featured in the "Royal Tenenbaums" and "Mighty Aphrodite". The pattern design has grown in color offerings and mediums.
