Handwoven in a wool flatweave originating circa 1950-1960, this vintage rug is one of the most exceptional, beautiful items has acquired of late—particularly desirable for a spacious size, a culmination of rare pattern and colorway, and for the subtle allusion to its origin from Albania or even Yugoslavia (via nomadic Turkish weavers). Gul medallion emblems with eight-pointed star motifs repeat throughout the field and bring out the rare play of green, red, and blue against the prevailing beige background—enfolded in a similar color scheme among the serrated leave patterns of the border, which similarly highlight the sense of refinement and subtlety few vintage rugs of this rare origin enjoy. Further worth noting is the subtle transition of the greens and blues, connoting a meticulous approach seldom seen in rugs with this refined, careful look to its excitement. Well suited in near square rug dimensions to the dining room, living room, study, library, and a grand array of similar projects seeking a vintage rug in this good condition.
