Rather than a round ball, the Ornaments Figural Ginger Jar with Large Flowers Ornament takes the silhouette of a ginger jar itself, with shoulders, neck and lid that read clearly from across the room. Large hand painted flowers in blue and white cover the body, worked by hand in Italy so the brushwork carries small variations from piece to piece. The glass is light, and a smooth glass surface is what lets painted detail this large stay crisp, which also matters for a figural shape that wants a branch with reach rather than weight. Made for decorative use, it is a handmade Italian Christmas ornament distinct enough to anchor a whole section of the tree, and the one guests lift off the branch on their way back from a long lunch. Hang it where it has room, or give it to someone who collects blue and white year round.
