Glass, not stoneware: the Bevill Tree Ornament is mouthblown and hand painted in Italy, made in Lombardy, a northern region known for being on the cutting edge of design with a craft history traceable to the second millennium BC. Hand painted fir trees and bright cardinals settle across the surface, the same motif that runs through the Bevill table, so the ornament and the serveware read as one collection. Mouthblowing means each piece is formed individually, and small differences in shape and weight come with the process rather than in spite of it. Hang it on the tree, or hand it to someone at the annual Christmas party as the thing they take home.
