I bought the 80 gallon without the mixing valve to save a bit of money. I have a family of four adults and two children as well as a tenant so five adults in total in approximately 2000 sq ft of home. Three bathrooms one dishwasher which we frequently use and a washing machine. I also have a recirculating pump that turns on in the morning so the kids don’t have to wait for warm water. Other than when we first filled it I have only ever used eco mode and have never had to switch to another mode to recover. I thought about whether I needed the mixing valve so I could heat the water hotter and have even more capacity but the mixing valve would not have been compatible with my recirculation setup according to my plumber and it makes sense as the heater would then be constantly heating cold water for no reason. So far that extra capacity the mixing valve buys has not been necessary. I switched from a gas water heater to electric because I have solar and there was an incentive program. My gas billed was halved in the winter time and in spring and summer is nonexistent. Electricity consumption is so low it barely makes a change at least when I monitor consumption in the solar app. So I totally buy the super high efficiency ratings. Water comes out as hot as desired. The app is a bit buggy and the WiFi connectivity is just okay. The heater is about 60 feet away from my WiFi with one door and it disconnects a lot. Seeing consumption on the app is nice but not always possible with the WiFi connectivity. I suppose people who need to change the modes more frequently would use the other features but I have just always been on eco. Noise is supposed to be one of the lowest there is. I personally was not expecting to hear anything but perhaps as a result of how it was installed with bracing it vibrates other structures which amplify the noise? I can definitely hear a low drone in my garage. It’s not bothersome and fades to background eventually. But I would definitely caution anybody who has to put their heater in living spaces to insulate that mechanical room well. Once my garage door is closed I can barely hear it but it was a bit more than I expected.

This heat pump water heater is efficient, quiet, and being that it runs on electric is better for the environment.

The unit is very efficient ,uses very little electricity and it delivers great amount of hot water. I wish I had known about this type of heating hot water heater years ago
