GE Profile Hybrid Heat Pump Water Heater has been installed for about 5 weeks. Delivery was superb, delivered to my basement as scheduled in three days from date of order. Installation by plumber was without issue. Has been functioning very well since installation. Extremely low electric use and not very loud. It does keep the basement cooler, but that's not an issue.

This water heater does not turn itself on until it is completely out of hot water. Why?? Every other water heater I have had has a thermostat and re-heats in small increments to keep the water hot. Since it is a heat pump water heater, it takes many hours to re-heat. And it turns itself on to high mode, which is very loud, if you are using the water when it runs out. I bought it because it was rated as the quietest, but it does not perform that way in practice. I have spoken repeatedly with the company and they insist my unit is fine, so this behavior appears to be a (baffling) design feature. I also have a different brand HPWH, and it works great. Keeps itself hot all the time, it is easy to schedule. The Geospring also uses more energy than the other HPWH I purchased.

Great features. Saves lots of energy compared to standard electric coil.

It was fairly easy to install, but was taller than my previous GeoSpring that I installed 3 years ago. I didn’t have room for the cutoff valve. Overall it is much quieter and more efficientIused to. I used to always run my old one in turtle mode and it kept up, however this unit requires me to switch it to balance mode if I’m expecting heavy usage. Definitely worth it.
