The same level of care applies to the cushions, which, like the weave, are used outdoors for long periods and therefore require regular cleaning with a soft brush and soapy water to prevent the accumulation of dirt and debris. When not in use, cushions should be placed in an upright position to ensure optimal drainage and reduce the risk of mould and mildew, while also enhancing the effectiveness of the anti-bacterial protection in the cushion core. Nevertheless, despite this anti-bacterial protection, mildew can still form on both the inner and outer covers if the cushions are not properly cleaned or dried. Therefore, in the case of food or drink spills, it is recommended to clean the affected area immediately with warm soapy water and allow the cushion to dry in an upright position. For stubborn stains or built-up dirt, a recommended stain remover such as Vanish (Vanish Oxi Action) or a high-pressure cleaner set to moderate may be used, and it is advisable to remove the cushion core and wash both the core and the outer cover separately, ensuring both sides of the cover are cleaned, as the cushion cover is machine washable at 30°C. During the colder months, cushions should ideally be stored indoors in a well-ventilated room, or alternatively in a cushion box placed on a covered terrace, patio, or carport to protect them from the weather while still allowing airflow, importantly, cushions should not be stored on the furniture frames, as this may result in mould and mildew forming on the surface, making spring cleaning more difficult.
