Updating original review: The replacement chest has the same weird black marks on the top, though slightly less noticeable. Because this nightstand is the perfect style, color, and size, and because both of us are sick of looking for an appropriate nightstand, my client has agreed to accept the replacement at my cost. She will use decor and possibly a piece of cloth to cover most of the marks, but one is right along the edge, so it can't be covered. Apart from the black marks on the top, this chest is quite attractive, so it's a shame the factory can't seem to do a decent job on the top. (The cheap polyurethane finish, which really bothered me when I first opened the box, is not as noticable from a couple feet away. However, since everything else in the room is nicely shellacked, the finish is disappointing.) One more thing: Yes, this could work as a very tall end or occasional table. Both sides and the back are beautifully covered in rattan. I'm particularly impressed with that aspect. Original review: Be sure to inspect yours right away. As soon as I opened the box I could see that the factory had splashed black paint or ink all over the top before the final finish was applied. Zero quality control. Perigold is ordering a replacement, but the bureaucracy is taking a lot more time than I would like. Also, FYI, the finish is kind of a cheap looking polyurethane, which is not what I or my client expected at this price point. The chest is attractive otherwise, and it's hard to find a tall thin nightstand these days, so we're hoping the replacement is of higher quality -- or at least devoid of black marks all over the top.

Very nice Tommy Bahama table.

Gorgeous nightstands! Excellent quality and workmanship. Couldn’t be more pleased.

Love the chests and the delivery was ahead of schedule. Thank you.

Perfect for my other guest room. Love the wood. Love the design.
