Hand-knotted in wool, this rug is an exciting new addition to Rug & Kilim’s custom-classics Burano Collection—inspired by mid-century Scandinavian folk art with geometric patterns depicting animal pictorials. On the Design: A field and border of beige-brown and rust tones underscores a field featuring animal pictorials and geometric patterns in vibrant colors—mainly figural motifs illustrating carts, animals, and humans in a scene from Scandinavian village life. This contemporary rug honors rustic, old-world beauty of tribal styles and recreates its rich, personal look in a luxury high-end construction. It’s an intentional contribution to a classic for a more contemporary level of comfort, and one of the many beauties that makes this collection a sophisticated, smart new language in design.
