Hand-knotted in wool and silk with one of our most luxurious Nepalese pile qualities, this 9x12 contemporary rug from Rug & Kilim’s European rug collection is entitled “Catana”, inspired by antique Italian rug designs and textiles of the most elegant sensibility. On the Design: An exciting addition to the collection, this piece draws inspiration from decorative Italian rugs from the late 19th to early 20th century period. The rich brown field sets the stage for the ornate green medallions, adding a touch of regal elegance to the rug. The fine detailing showcases the craftsmanship and attention to detail that define this modern European masterpiece. The silk’s natural sheen, too, lends a fabulous play of light, and complements the already gorgeous sense of movement of this dense, rich all over pattern. It’s an elegant contemporary ode to a traditional European rug design, teeming with life and intricate detail that sits with the rare balance of opulent yet comfortable presence in any space.
