Longan, which is Cantonese for “dragon eye”, gets its namesake from the delicious and desirable fruit that grows from the branches of Longan trees. However, the versatility and beauty of the wood from these trees can not be underestimated. The Longan Wood Stool is living proof of this statement, with unrepeatable shapes and grain patterns on full display with varied colorations. These stools are sustainably sourced and maintain their wholly organic form, making each Longan stool unique with its own sense of character.

This solid wood accent stool highlights the traditional craft of wood carving to bring a textured, organic element right into your space. Crafted from paulownia wood, it features natural woodgrain for subtle texture across the entire frame. The raw, unfinished surface celebrates the organic character of the material, making it a standout addition to your layout. It's designed with a three-leg tripod base that provides a stable foundation while establishing a sculptural silhouette. Plus, it serves as a versatile accent piece that works just as easily for quick seating as it does for a small table top display.

We are known for using wood that we responsibly source. We have rescued the reclaimed wood pieces like the Natural Log Stool made from Suar Wood from being one of Nature’s finest castaways by making them into elemental design statements. One design distinction to note on this stool is the natural graining of the wood on the sides and the textural beauty of the rings on the top that illustrate the life of the tree.

The Solid Wood Accent Stool is so versatile, that most interior styles will welcome it with aplomb. Made of mango wood that has been given a gray stone finish, the stool will be easy to move around. Place it almost anywhere for a last-minute addition to a seating grouping, or pull it up to a sofa or club chair and it becomes a drinks table. Thanks to the juxtaposition of pared-down lines and the mooring-like shape, the piece illustrates how dedicated we are to the Phillips Collection ethos of modern organic. We also offer this design in several curved versions.

The Cast Naturals collection highlights our skills at taking an innovative material and making it feel as if it sprang from nature. The black round cast petrified wood stool is made of composite that has been molded to look like a piece of aged wood that it took nature eons to create. It takes great skill for our artisans to paint the material to make it so convincingly resemble woodgrain. The advantage of having a wood stool made from this durable material is that it will long outlast its natural counterparts pulled from the forest floor. This piece is the perfect representation of the Phillips Collection ethos: modern organic. We have several offerings that exhibit the feel of petrified wood.
