Every plum blossom on this porcelain vase is drawn freehand, which is why the branches never fall in quite the same arrangement twice. Legend of Asia works with painters in southern China who load a brush once and carry a whole limb across the shoulder of the piece, letting the blue white cobalt run from dark to pale as the pigment thins. Fired at high temperature, the ceramic vase is hard and watertight and ready for fresh water, so the floral vase is as practical as it is decorative. Use the handmade vase as mantel decor beside candlesticks, on a hall console, or as an accent vase on a dining sideboard. Its scale and quiet pattern make it an easy addition to chinoiserie decor schemes, or a first step into asian decor for an otherwise neutral room.
This was supposed to be gorgeous but it arrived broken along with the styrofoam it was packaged in. Obviously, it had been dropped.. Carol. Edwards, MS. Mon Jul 22 2024
