The Scalamandre zebra pattern in the color of green is your fun accent table or garden seat, perfect for the chair as a table or as an extra pull-up stool on the patio. It's for the adventurer in us all. A little background history: Originally designed in the 1940s for the Gino of Capri restaurant, lovingly known as "Ginos" by New Yorkers, Scalamandre restored the Zebras wallcovering in the upper east side institution in the 1970s after it was destroyed in a fire. Flora Scalamandre, wife of Franco, free-handed the signature motif that would come to be known as the iconic Scalamandre zebras. The pattern is celebrated the world over in design and in the movies. It was featured in the "Royal Tenenbaums" and "Mighty Aphrodite". The pattern design has grown in color offerings and mediums.

These are good for what I needed them for. I don't think they were very expensive, and that shows somewhat in the design. These are filler pieces for overall look, and will be fine for a long time unless II eventually decide to replace them with something more expensive. Each piece of ceramic furniture is born from clay, hand-dug from Thailand’s central provinces. Handmade plaster of Paris molds shape each piece as it air-cures into greenware. After a first firing, crystalline glazes are applied. Glazes are closely guarded recipes, with natural ingredients and no heavy metals. Gas-fired kilns ensure an intense, consistent heat that brings glazes to jewel-like color saturation. Expect small color, glaze, and surface variations. These are normal in handcrafted ceramics, adding character and guaranteeing the uniqueness of each piece.
