A blast from the past, the origami-inspired desk adds just the right amount of 60s retro touch to an office space.

Picture makes it look a bit more smooth and refined than it actually is but it is a great looking desk. It might be my expectations but when I hear or read "solid wood" I think a whole board or wide slab of wood that sometimes has joints depending on how deep it is. This is 2.25" strips glued together and these strips might be solid, but the description says white oak and I'm having a hard time believing that. Is balsa wood in the oak family because it is the most hollow sounding oak (or wood in general) I have ever heard or felt. It is far too light to be oak. Either way, looks good but it is far too expensive for what it is. I bought a "solid wood" bookcase from allmodern that is supposed to be black walnut lol but sounds as hollow as this one.. Abbie.
