The top is a single board left unlacquered, so the surface stays dry and silvered, with open checking, split ends and the saw marks from working it. Four legs splay on both axes and pass through the plank as pegged mortise-and-tenon joints, each end braced with a stretcher and a diagonal. Shearling is sheepskin tanned with the wool left on, and this one carries a short dense pile with a soft hand-feel, upholstered over a padded bolster top. One thing to know before buying: the seat board is roughly 5 to 6 inches wide, which makes this a perch and a hall piece rather than a bench to sit at length.
