This is labeled as "top grain leather", but it is a terrible quality. It feels and looks like either "faux leather" or worse "bonded leather." The chair came in a big box which said "made in China" and I think that the Chinese manufacturers like to "rip off" Americans with inferior quality products. Worse yet, they are labeling it as a genuine leather when it clearly is not. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Will try to sell this at a loss at a yard sale. The "so-called" leather is too ugly. Furthermore, I strongly recommend that Perigold clearly labels the country of origin for buyers. If I knew that this was made in China, I would not have bought it.

Very poor quality, in particular the leather was deeply cracked on arms, seat and head rest, cost me $1,300.00 and I would honestly say that it is not worth $500,00. I was replacing a 5 year old leather chair that has cat scratches that don’t look as bad as this brand new chair!

Beautiful design. Good craftsmanship. Mediocre quality leather. It was dry and crackled, not simply "distressed." I had to rejuvenate it with neetsfoot oil. Looks better now, but, for the price, I was expecting higher quality leather. Also, please note that this chair is rather small. If you are looking for a reading chair to sink into with a good book, look for a bigger chair with a softer seat.
