A huge block of white marble is drilled out to produce a cylindrical shaft or core of solid marble to create the base for this beautiful table. These 'cored' bases are left in a rather unpolished state (not as highly polished as most marble is) to contrast with the smoothness of the round tops. The stem and rim holding a matching piece of round marble cut from a thin marble sheet are made of solid brass. Perfect side tables (often referred to a drink table) made in India are the results of this effort.
