These are lovely stools and I am really pleased with the design and comfort. However, I quickly learned that the lightly oiled finish was insufficient to protect against ordinary kitchen splashes and spills. I did not want to send them back, but to avoid the disappointment of difficult-to-remove stains later I applied two coats of clear matte polyacrylic. For that reason I am dropping one star, but reluctantly, because they are beautiful. They seem sturdily crafted too, though time will tell.

Love these stools. They are bigger in person and the seat is nice and wide. Great craftsmanship and quality.

Pros They look as pictured, and I like the look. Goes well in a transitional kitchen. They are big enough for larger bottoms, big people. Cons The stools use a wax finish that will stain easily, not ideal for a kitchen. Buying and applying additional finish is possible, but it's time consuming and costly and won't fundamentally change the fact that a wax finish is not suited to a high-traffic area with things like acidic tomato sauce and red wine flying around. The joinery is just ok. I predict I'm going to have to have these stools reglued in a year or two.
