Clear dust with a soft, clean cloth, dusting with the grain of the wood. The cloth may be dampened with a furniture dusting-aid or a furniture care polish product. Always follow the manufacture directions on the product. Never use chemicals, abrasive kitchen cleansers, other commercial cleaners, or solvents on wood pieces. The furniture may be washed with a mild soap intended for that purpose or a furniture cleaning product available in most grocery stores. Follow the directions on the product, use a soft cloth and wipe with the grain. To best protect the finish and keep the shine of wood furniture, polish it with good quality, non-silicone furniture polish, following the grain of the wood every six months or so. Avoid using oily polishes or waxes. Avoid silicone-based or any type of products that may leave an oily film on the furniture since they may cloud the finish and is very difficult to remove. Also avoid oil-based polishes, as they tend to collect dust and even darken the wood. Wipe spilled liquids from the surface immediately with a soft, slightly damp cloth, in the direction of the wood grain. Scratches from normal use may occur on furniture over time. These can be touched up with a scratch remover or special touch-up pens or sticks available at your furniture dealer or at many paint stores.
