So this is not actually solid wood which makes the price point seem quite high, there is a thin piece of manufactured wood on the top and bottom and the trim around these make it look like there is a solid/slab style thick piece of wood on the top and bottom. The top piece clearly has seams of slats that have been glued together, albeit smoothly but this is just so dishonest as it is no way solid wood. I doubt the stated 300lb weight capacity is legit as when I sit on the edge you can see the top bow down slightly and i'm just over 100lbs. I can't imagine sitting in the middle what could happen. This is why I bought this table, I need something solid and sturdy for my crazy son who climbs and sits on everything. Considering the price I'm definitely disappointed. the table is nice to look at and the size is great, but I think the statements and advertising are false and I should have just gone with something else.
