Peter Svarrer's Cabernet range has been designed to give you the perfect wine experience. The Cabernet range includes glasses for different types of wine and glasses for champagne, beer, spirit, and water. The range also includes a matching wine carafe. These tumblers have become very popular – not least because of their simple design, size, and grip. They are tough and easy to stack in any cupboard. Forma is a product line with heavy sculptural constructions in solid glass, with roots in the historic Bauhaus era, where forms such as cubes, spheres, and cylinders serve as the primary shapes. Forma holds the same graphic strength in the form of massive geometric shapes that intersect. The strong language of the form works with the negative space around the construction and thus how the brain reads the fusion of the forms. The tumbler measures 3.9 inches and is made of pressed clear glass. The shape is a perfect cylinder with a sturdy base. I purchased a set of these in the champagne size/type to give as a wedding gift, and they fit the bill perfectly. The glasses are very elegant and delicate, and they look and feel expensive and finely crafted. The design is what I would describe as classic with a twist. The slight curve of the lip is just beautiful, and I think the style is versatile enough such that you could pair these with other serving items that are either modern or more classic in their aesthetic and it would all look cohesive. I recommend these without reservation. The one thing that surprised me upon seeing them in person is that the size of the glass bowl is a little larger than I was imagining based on the pictures, but it's not a bad thing, just something to keep in mind. Port tastes best when served in the right glass. If you do not have port glasses, the port glasses by Holmegaard are a good choice. The range was originally created by designer Anja Kjær as a gift for the Danish queen and prince consort to mark their silver wedding in 1992, and Holmegaard has now been permitted to offer the glasses as part of the spring collection in 2018. All the glasses in the range, including the port glasses, are made from mouth-blown glass, which makes every single glass unique.
