A leading member of the 19th century Arts and Crafts Movement, Englishman William Morris’ (1834-1896) legacy cannot be understated. A master in many disciplines of design, he is perhaps most celebrated for his glorious patterns, many of which remain popular to this day. His late 1890s ornamental borders for The History of Godefrey of Boloyne and The Works of Geoffrey Chaucer by his own Kelmscott Press form the basis of the grape and vine motif in this collection, produced in collaboration with the Victoria & Albert Museum, London. The V&A is the world’s leading museum of art and design with its collections unrivalled in their scope and diversity. Housing a permanent collection of over 2.3 million objects that span over 5,000 years of human creativity, the V&A is an infinite resource for design, innovation and craftsmanship.
