In Ericka's current work, she's creating skies with a serenity that she has seen and felt before, and that she tries to imagine during bleak winter months in Seattle. When the state of the world itself seems bleak, she finds a quiet slowness by contemplating the sky and the broad juxtaposing of color that can exist in myriad ways. It's a calming opposite to our overstimulated culture: chaotic events and unending social media. For Ericka, the sky seems like the perfect metaphor for life-expansiveness, even though at the times dark or dangerous, ultimately beautiful in all of its vibrancy and impermanence.

This is one of the more low resolution images I've ever gotten and yet nowhere does it say it's close it a painting everywhere so no it was not a painting and it was very expensive for what looked like a postcard blown up to about a foot.. A multitude of mediums in order to achieve his final image. He works between figurative and abstract using a variety of layering techniques from collage, transfers from his own photos to endless over-painting. Having traveled extensively since childhood pulls a lot of imagery and inspiration from the memorabilia and sketchbooks he has collected along his journey.

Artist Susie Zolghadri was raised in the green mountains of Vermont. Her family is filled with artists. Musicians, weavers, ceramicists, painters, and photographers have all had their influence on her. She is drawn to nature in all its forms and finds it frequently emerging as a theme in her work. Every time she approaches the canvas, she is ready to gain an understanding of her emotional and intellectual connection with life. There is always a reflection from within, along with the gift of clarity and purpose. She paints intuitively, letting layers of paint, fabric; collage, and paper interact and unfold into a story. When she discovers the story within the painting, its meaning comes into focus. When the meaning has been revealed, her painting is complete.

Artist Commentary: "Sunnies No. 1" was the first painting in my "Shall I Cut My Ear Off" series. This painting had such a Van Gogh quality to it that I decided to paint a number of different sunflower paintings, all from a vase of sunflowers a friend brought me. This one ended up being my favorite of the series but I really enjoyed taking a break from my sea and landscape paintings, to focus on a series of sunflower paintings.
