Artist Commentary: "Sunnies No. 1" was the first painting in my "Shall I Cut My Ear Off" series. This painting had such a Van Gogh quality to it that I decided to paint a number of different sunflower paintings, all from a vase of sunflowers a friend brought me. This one ended up being my favorite of the series but I really enjoyed taking a break from my sea and landscape paintings, to focus on a series of sunflower paintings.
