In an allegorical scene that reflects hunters' late 1800's near-extermination of the American bison from the western plains, a male native American Indian on horseback thrusts his spear to cause the death of the last buffalo and the end of an era. Bierstadt was revered for his romanticized landscapes of the then newly accessible west. The German-born, American artist's final great western painting, this grande work was created with an almost glowing light technique known as luminism. The authentic stretched canvas replica painting captures the original work's texture, depth of color, and even its subtle brushstrokes, which are applied by hand exclusively for Design Toscano. Design Toscano imported hardwood frame features bold, beaded detail on the borders and is highlighted in antiqued gold tones to enhance this spectacular image.

This iconic photograph captures Carmen Alvarez enjoying a game of backgammon with Frank 'Brandy' Brandstetter in a swimming pool at Acapulco in 1978. Immerse yourself in the timeless allure of Slim Aarons' "Poolside Gossip," captured in January 1970 at the iconic Kaufmann Desert House in Palm Springs, California—a modernist masterpiece designed by architect Richard Neutra for department store magnate Edgar J. Kaufmann. This vibrant photograph depicts former model and homeowner Nelda Linsk (seated right, in a striking yellow outfit), wife of art dealer Joseph Linsk, engaged in lively conversation with her friend Helen Dzo Dzo Kaptur (left), as actress Lita Baron approaches from behind, cocktail in hand, against a backdrop of the sparkling turquoise pool, lush desert landscaping, and the majestic San Jacinto Mountains. Epitomizing the carefree glamour of mid-20th-century high society, the un-staged scene reflects the era's leisure and elegance, with the subjects' relaxed poses and colorful attire symbolizing an aspirational lifestyle that has made this image a cultural icon, even inspiring recreations decades later. Slim Aarons (1916–2006), born George Allen Aarons, rose from humble origins and World War II combat photography to become a celebrated chronicler of the elite, vowing post-war to photograph only "attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places," with his works gracing magazines like Town & Country and now preserved in the Getty Images archive. This exquisite reproduction from Soicher Marin is printed on premium luster photo paper using state-of-the-art techniques, ensuring vibrant colors, sharp details, and enduring quality that brings a touch of mid-century sophistication to any space.

This iconic 1969 photograph, "Leisure in Antibes", captures a sun-drenched moment off the coast of Antibes near the legendary Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc on the French Riviera. A woman lounges gracefully on the deck of a sleek motorboat, soaking in the warm August sun as the vessel tows a waterskier through the sparkling Mediterranean waters. This 1970 photograph, "Poolside Gossip", showcases a quintessential Palm Springs moment at a desert house designed by famed architect Richard Neutra for Edgar J. Kaufmann, a key patron of modernist architecture. Helen Dzo Dzo and Nelda Linsk relax poolside while Lita Baron approaches in the background. Set against the majestic peaks of the Swiss Alps, this 1964 photograph, "Lounging in Verbier", captures a vibrant winter scene in Verbier, Switzerland, a rising star in the world of alpine sports during the mid-twentieth century. Nestled in the canton of Valais, Verbier was beginning to attract a spirited, adventurous crowd drawn to its expansive slopes and youthful energy. The sunlit gathering of skiers and loungers, framed by towering mountains, reflects a moment when the post-war generation embraced the mountains not just for sport, but for community and escape. In this image, Verbier stands on the cusp of becoming an icon, where snow and sun combined to create a distinctly modern alpine lifestyle.
