Guseul Park was born and raised in Korea and studied ceramics in college. However, she was always drawn to painting and drawing and is a self-taught artist. “Art means meditation to me. By creating art, I get to go explore the deepest side of me and examine my state of mind. Creating art always brought me to a state of pure joy. It is the place in which I can be myself.” Her favorite medium to use is a pencil, which she describes as “back-to-basics art.” She finds inspiration in daily strolls and travel. She also enjoys reading and embroidering when she is not creating new artwork.

Former Atlanta-based artist Kyle Goderwis graduated from The Art Institute of Atlanta in 2004 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. In 2006, he was invited to participate in his first gallery show in the city, and has since showcased his work in over a dozen exhibitions across the Southeast. In 2010, Kyle joined a group of working professional artists to further his education in the fine art world. A recent transplant to Seattle, he has been with Grand Image since 2014, creating a variety of abstract, expressionist, and mixed-media artwork.

In our first collaboration, acclaimed interior designers Mara Miller and Jesse Carrier and third-generation art house Soicher Marin present Open Studio, five collections that reflect Carrier and Company’s own sensibility and love of art. Jesse and Mara reflected on many of the show-stopping and impactful art pieces that they’ve selected for projects throughout the years as inspiration for this first collection with Soicher Marin. Fern Cassidy was born in Oakland, CA but grew up in Colorado. She enjoys traveling, being outdoors, food & painting. Fern studied drawing and painting at CSU Long Beach where she learned a lot from professors that she trained under but most of her experience comes from her personal practice. She works in all mediums including oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache but also likes to experiment with textiles and fiber arts as well. Fern finds opportunities to explore and experiment with colors and shapes. She finds inspiration from daily life and the things around her. “Art is a means to preserve and find meaning in life”.
