Paul Taylor, born in San Francisco and raised in Davis, CA, finds inspiration for his abstract art in the spare gridded farmlands of his childhood. Influenced by Aaron Siskind, Minor White, and local artists Roland Petersen and Wayne Thiebaud, he began shooting abstract work almost immediately after picking up a camera. He built a darkroom in his family's wine cellar and attended UC Santa Cruz before studying at Art Center/College of Design and starting an advertising photography business in Los Angeles.
