Set against the majestic peaks of the Swiss Alps, this 1964 photograph, "Lounging in Verbier", captures a vibrant winter scene in Verbier, Switzerland, a rising star in the world of alpine sports during the mid-twentieth century. Nestled in the canton of Valais, Verbier was beginning to attract a spirited, adventurous crowd drawn to its expansive slopes and youthful energy. The sunlit gathering of skiers and loungers, framed by towering mountains, reflects a moment when the post-war generation embraced the mountains not just for sport, but for community and escape. In this image, Verbier stands on the cusp of becoming an icon, where snow and sun combined to create a distinctly modern alpine lifestyle. Slim Aarons, renowned for his evocative photographs of, as he described it, "attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places," was the quintessential chronicler of high society. After serving as a war photographer, Aarons turned his lens to a new landscape: the glamorous lives of Hollywood elites, Palm Beach socialites, and jet-setting debutantes and princes. His work for society publications captured an aspirational world of leisure and luxury that defined the American upper class throughout the mid-20th century, creating images that remain timeless symbols of sophistication and style. The photograph is presented as a high-resolution scan of the photo's original photographic slide, complete with hand-lettered archival notations along the mount. Offered exclusively by Soicher Marin, this edition preserves the full character of the original format, transforming it into a striking piece of wall art that merges history, authenticity, and timeless style. More than a photograph, it is a curated artifact of American cultural glamour, bringing a refined yet playful sophistication to any well-appointed interior. Every piece in our unique Slim Aarons collection is meticulously handcrafted using archival materials and printed on premium, luster photographic paper with environmentally safe inks, custom framed by skilled artisans who ensure that each work of art meets the exacting standards befitting such an iconic photograph.

Brad Ellis is a Texas-based artist whose focus is on abstract painting. Throughout his career, he has continually experimented with imagery from tightly rendered, systematic patterns to loosely constructed, expressionistic compositions. He has distinguished himself by embracing the ancient medium of encaustic which is hot wax painting and is a process by which heated beeswax is mixed with pigments and applied to board or canvas and then fused to the surface with a heat source. Brad approaches each new painting with the same consistency that he's employed for many years now which he referred to as “Pattern, Rhythm, and Process.” He typically starts each painting by building up layers of paper and/or fabric collage materials by cutting and mounting these pieces onto the canvas or board and arranging them in a way to form the underlying pattern of the painting. This helps lay the foundation for the initial imagery and paves the way for the applications of the other mediums.

After serving as a war photographer, Slim Aarons turned his lens to a new landscape: the glamorous lives of Hollywood elites, Palm Beach socialites, and jet-setting debutantes and princes. Aarons famously described his subjects as “attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places.” More than just portraits, his photographs encapsulated a luxurious way of life. "Snowmass Picnic," captured by Slim Aarons in January 1967 amid the pristine slopes of Snowmass-at-Aspen, Colorado, evokes the joyous camaraderie of alpine high society. This enchanting photograph portrays a stand-up fondue picnic for skiers, with hot food elegantly helicoptered in by Holiday magazine, where notable guests like Howard Head of the Head Ski Company, IBM president Thomas Watson Jr. and his wife Olive, Norwegian Olympic skier Stein Eriksen, and restaurateur Armando Orsini gather in the fresh snowfields, their laughter and stylish winter attire harmonizing with the vast trails of the newly opened village. The scene captures the heart of 1960s winter leisure, weaving adventurous spirit with refined indulgence, evoking a timeless romance that continues to enchant lovers of snowy escapades and sophisticated gatherings. Slim Aarons (1916–2006), born George Allen Aarons, rose from humble origins and World War II combat photography to become a celebrated chronicler of the elite, vowing post-war to photograph only "attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places," with his works gracing magazines like Town & Country and now preserved in the Getty Images archive. This exquisite reproduction from Soicher Marin is printed on premium luster photo paper using state-of-the-art techniques, ensuring vibrant colors, sharp details, and enduring quality that brings a touch of mid-century sophistication to any space.

Gert Johan Manschot lives in a modern barn aptly named the Dutch Barn in Dripping Springs, TX with six rescue dogs, two donkeys, a cat, and three beehives. Johan's career journey started in the Netherlands as a lawyer first and subsequently in project management. Throughout his life, he found joy in art: paintings, sculptures, and art collecting. After moving to Texas a little more than 10 years ago for love and marriage, he began drawing and painting himself. Initially, taking nude drawing lessons in Dallas, joined a painter studio there as well, and attended Texas Women’s University for a Master's in Painting. His art is heavily influenced by meditation having spent a significant amount of time in a Zen Buddhist monastery and at various retreats. His painting is predominantly abstract in form, mainly in black and white, using acrylic paint on canvas, wood, or paper, and most large in format. In the past year, he has been experimenting with color again, mixing color in black and white. Johan expresses himself with one or a few large and fast brush strokes, a combination of motion and emotion. The strokes capture the energy that he experiences in the very moment of painting. They are invocative and challenge the viewer to question where the energy comes from and what it expresses. His paintings often have a Zen quality and expressiveness, minimal and direct. The Ensō, aka Zen circle, is becoming more and more of a central expression and integral part of his work. His figurative art, female figures in the nude, reflects and expresses the model’s energy, movement, curvature, lines, and elegance, using charcoal, graphite, or chalk on paper. As with his abstract paintings, the execution is fast with minimal lines capturing the essence of femininity.

Kim is an Austin-based artist specializing in abstract paintings. She was raised in Houston, TX where she realized her passion for art at a young age. After years of focused practice, she studied at Texas Christian University where she fostered her love and skill in painting. In Kim's adult life, art has opened doors to professional apprenticeships in Austin, Houston, New York, and London; and opened up worldwide travel opportunities including extended stays in India, Zambia, Western Europe, and Southeast Asia. Kim's practice is inspired through her training and travel as well as by abstract expressionists whose lives and careers explored questions of space, identity, and subconscious through abstractions, repetition, and process. Namely Helen Frankenthaler and Agnes Martin.

Jess has been painting with watercolors and oils on large canvases, small scraps of paper, and everything in between for as long as she can remember. She went to Savannah College of Art and Design, never thinking that one day she would “actually” become an artist. That took a bit longer to realize. But here she is, living the dream. Jess's mission is simple: to make beautiful work that makes people feel extraordinary. Her aesthetic is influenced by her African upbringing - using simple lines, rich colors, and organic shapes to capture life in every form. She believes the process is just as important as the outcome, when she's in a flow and she enjoys the process the work feels fresh, effortless, and alive. After she conceives a new idea she tries to spend some quality time with it - to let it sink in. Then usually the work comes out very quickly. If it doesn’t, she never forces it, she just goes outside for a bit, clears her head, and comes back later. It’s amazing what fresh air can do for perspective.
