Originating from Central America and largely grown today across tropical regions around the globe, frangipani is an ornamental tree known for its fragrant white, yellow or pink flowers. This scent is an enveloping, comforting and solar perfume: fresh head notes of bergamot are followed by a bouquet of white flowers enhanced with a touch of vanilla that calls for the tropics.

Colorful, the Carrière Frères taper candles are scented with floral, woody, fruity, and herbal notes. Their botanical perfume prevails when opening the box; once lit, the taper candles diffuse a golden halo. Manufactured in the Carrière Frères atelier in Normandy, they bring back the memory of decorative candles used to embellish tables at the beginning of the 20th century, thus reconnecting us with the early years of the brand, founded in 1884. Like the whole Carrière Frères collection, the taper candles are crafted using 100% vegetable wax, essentially made from organic European rapeseed.

The lily is a delicate plant of the Liliaceae family. At the other end of its little white bells, its underground stems, or rhizomes, help the lily spread. Although the lily is one of a kind, many varieties can be found across the world. In France, we hand-pick them on May 1st to celebrate spring.

And while I have loved the fragrances, I am finding that the fragrance of this and the Mediterranean Lemon candle I purchased recently are just not as strong as I expected. For example, the Nobel Fir Garland I bought last year for the holidays made my home smell as if there were a live xmas tree in my home. The candles' fragrance this year are just not that strong..
