In an allegorical scene that reflects hunters' late 1800s near-extermination of the American bison from the western plains, a male Native American Indian on horseback thrusts his spear to cause the death of the last buffalo and the end of an era. Bierstadt was revered for his romanticized landscapes of the then-newly accessible West. The German-born American artist's final great Western painting, this grande work was created with an almost glowing light technique known as luminism. The authentic stretched canvas replica painting captures the original work's texture, depth of color, and even its subtle brushstrokes, which are applied by hand. The replica 4.375" wide, European style, bright gold-toned, ribbed frame is cast in quality designer resin with an acanthus leaf and floret border that draws the eye toward the beautiful image. Proudly printed and framed in the USA using imported molding.

Rustic Reverie 1 captures a nostalgic spirit by offering the iconic Americana - the Barn. Here, a large barn fills the flat picture plane surface with a structure of geometric shapes that build onto each other to form the whole. Line plays a distinct role by outlining the patchwork shapes while the color palette underscores the weather-worn tone of the work. Line and a color palette in smoke gray, steel blue, ivory, and creamy white combine to give the work a three-dimensional effect. Part of the carefully curated art. Rustic Reverie 1 embodies the essence of the American landscape, where each line and shape speaks to a storied past. Pairs beautifully with Rustic Reverie 2.
