Artist Janice Sadler created her painting series in watercolor as an ode to her southern California home. Janice particularly likes working in watercolors, because "the subtle colors intermingle, wash and flow into each other and new colors evolve from it". Janice is inspired by the ocean and local flora. This watercolor series is ideally suited to recreating the visual flavor of the seaside.

Artist Eve Fairwell has been lucky to have had her childhood passion for art fostered throughout her life via classes, college, and various generous mentors. Eve took all the art classes she could in school, eventually resulting in a senior year of high school filled with four periods of art and the required English and Math. From the ages of 12-15 she trained under a local oil painter whose paintings were sought after in Iran, and in college was mentored by an illustrator for the Times. Eve received her BFA in painting and illustration from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Though she started with playtime watercolor sets, long years of practice, observation, luck, and dedication are what have allowed her to become a full-time artist today. Eve works with acrylic paint, watercolor, and digitally in Photoshop and Illustrator. She is obsessed with the textures that traditional media can produce and often incorporates these into her digital artwork using a combination of effects, which creates a result that draws the eye in. Eve likes how colors interact in digital formats, and the feeling of depth traditional media lends. The style’s that influenced her are minimalism, expressionism and the work of some surrealists captures her interest. Eve’s focus centers on the moments of rest between the bustling movement in our everyday lives. The few seconds that pass eerily quietly in a noisy city; the hush that comes over a room just before the birthday person arrives; a glance that stops you in your tracks. Eve likes still moments of hush that give you chills and make you pause to recognize we are all here, alive, right now experiencing the beautiful weirdness of life. To show this, Eve’s abstract subjects are often explored by feelings in the body or reductions of elements of scenes that cause that feeling to occur.

She moved to San Diego in 1984, where she lives today with her husband and three children. While her artistic impression was constant throughout her life, her recent foray into the art world was developed over the past 15 years working as a volunteer art teacher for school children at the elementary level. During this time she also worked as the prop, costume, and backdrop designer for the elementary school’s performances and directed the art and talent shows for many years. Now coming full circle, Ann is once again involved in instructing new and aspiring artists on her painting methods. In her commitment to being a green artist, Ann is able to create unique paintings by using recycled materials, finding items of interest in her environment, and using every drop of paint to add dimension to her paintings.

Donna Bernstein is a self-taught artist, painter, and sculpture. Donna drew and painted horses since she was a child. This piece is smaller than advertised. It measures 14x14, although the sticker on back states 12.5x12.5 and it's advertised as 16x16. The print is flat and has no texture to it at all. Fern Cassidy was born in Oakland, CA, but grew up in Colorado. She enjoys traveling, being outdoors, food, and painting. Fern studied drawing and painting at CSU Long Beach, where she learned a lot from the professors she trained under, but most of her experience comes from her personal practice. She works in all mediums, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, and gouache, but also likes to experiment with textiles and fiber arts. Fern finds opportunities to explore and experiment with colors and shapes. She finds inspiration from daily life and her surroundings. "Art is a means to preserve and find meaning in life."

Donna Bernstein is a self-taught artist, painter, and sculpture. Donna drew and painted horses since she was a child. What differentiates her work is that, unlike most “equestrian” Artists, she did not grow up around horses. She did not live on a ranch. But instead, was spiritually connected to horses with an intuitive sense of them. Donna studied them voraciously; their anatomy, form, and attitudes. She had to create her horses in order to have them, her imagination played a great role, and so her stylized abstractive works reflect a non-realistic perspective, but with accurate anatomy.

Elena Carlie was born in Romania; a country known for its rich cultural heritage and great natural beauty. At the age of 22, she moved to the United States where she expanded her horizons and grew as an artist. She has studied Fine arts since she was a child and currently holds a BFA in Graphic Design from the University of NH. “Art defines our humanity, freedom, and individuality. It is a way to articulate abstract thought and separates us from other life forms. Art is incredibly therapeutic for me, and foremost a strong passion. It’s not something I think about, but rather, something I feel.” Carlie finds inspiration everywhere. She strives to discover new ways of interpretation and sees this as a formula to remain fresh. It is a way of having fun while doing something that she loves. “To me, anything that can be manipulated can become an art medium.” “I love to work with watercolor paint, oil paint, acrylic paint, pencil, pen, and ink. However, the digital tools available today are pushing the limits of creativity and I find myself very involved with it.”
